Thua Thien-Hue (VNA) – The central province of Thua Thien-Hue willbegin stiff fines on littering in public areas and illegal waste dumping fromJuly 1.
A fine of up to 7 million VND (299 USD) will be imposed on those who throw ordiscard cigarette butts and ashes, discard domestic trash, and urinate inpublic places.
Meanwhile, penalty for illegally dumping industrial waste, and receiving ofsolid garbage without treatment measures can reach up to 1 billion VND.
The move aims to protect the environment and ensure hygiene in the locality.
Many violations in environmental hygiene have been detected through theprovince’s surveillance cameras system. Additional 100 surveillance cameraswill be installed to nab illegal dumpers in the coming time.
In the past years, Thua Thien-Hue has carried out various projects to protectthe environment, with the Green Sunday campaign receiving lavish praise fromthe Prime Minister. Other notable programmes are “60 minutes for clean housesand streets”, “clean Huong river”, and “saying no to single use plastic bag”.
Joining the province’s efforts, local super markets like Big C and Co.opMart,and traditional markets have gone green by using natural wrapping instead ofplastic bags.-VNA
