Addressing the event, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phucpraised the organisations and individuals for their outstanding contributionsto the country’s Doi Moi (Renewal) cause over the past 30 years.
They were selected among millions of workers and labourersacross the country by the programme’s organising council and the VietnamGeneral Confederation of Labour under this year’s theme of “Vietnam Glory – Imprintsof the 30-year Doi Moi”.
Phuc said that after 30 years of renewal, Vietnam has gainedgreat achievements. From a poor agricultural economy, Vietnam has become amiddle-income country with the poverty rate declining from 60 percent in 1990to 4.45 percent in 2016.
He attributed the achievements to important contributions byall economic sectors, people from all walks of life and socio-politicalorganisations, with the worker class always a pioneer in the renewal andintegration, and national construction and safeguarding process.
The Government will create all favourable conditions forVietnamese enterprises, organisations and individuals to bring their capacityand fortes into full play to contribute more to the nation, he added.
The “Vietnam Glory – Imprints of the 30-year Doi Moi” Programmewas held to honour organisations and individuals who made special contributionsto socio-economic development. They are exemplary role-models in patrioticemulation movements and the nation construction and protection cause during the30-year renewal.
On the same day, the honoured individuals and organisations werereceived by Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.
Praising their contributions to the nation’s renewalachievements, the Party chief asked the honoured organisations and individualsto keep up their excellent performances and contribute more to the country’s industrialisationand modernisation, and nation construction and safeguarding cause.-VNA
