Thermo power plant bidders announced

Two foreign bidders, namely Japan ’s Marubeni and the Republic of Korea (RoK)’s Kepco, have been chosen for the Nghi Son 2 coal-fired thermo power plant in central Thanh Hoa province.

The result was announced by Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Le Duong Quang in Hanoi on March 22.

At the ceremony, Quang said the project, which will be carried outunder the build-operate-transfer (BOT) model, will use imported coal. Itwill be the first in the country to use environmentally friendlyultra-supercritical pressure coal-fired electricity generationtechnology, he said.

The two-turbine 1,200 MW plant is expected to start operating in 2017.-VNA
