Thanh Hoa, Houaphan work to prevent drug crime

Border guards in the central province of Thanh Hoa and those from the Lao northern province of Houapan met on November 15 to discuss an integrated plan on drug prevention in their shared borderline.

Under the 2013-2014 strategy, both sides will coordinate bothofficials and the public to combat crimes, especially drug-related ones,along with persuading offenders to rehabilitate. A drastic crackdown onillegal traffickers will also be enforced.

TheVietnamese locality, in conjunction with the Lao province, has launchednumerous campaigns over the past few years encouraging the public tojoin local authorities in denouncing the crime.

Manyillegal drug smuggling operations over border areas have beensuccessfully prevented thanks to interventions by members of thepublic.-VNA

The Mekong Delta province of Bac Lieu on October 21 signed a cooperation agreement with Uiseong county, Gyeongsangbuk-do province of the Republic of Korea (RoK) on sending local labourers to the RoK to work seasonally under the form of locality-to-locality collaboration between the two countries in the 2023 - 2027 period.

Tien Giang strives to reduce poverty rate to 0.87% this year
