Thailand to have hotter summer this year

Thailand is bracing for a hotter summer this year, with the Meteorological Department forecasting an average temperature increase of one degree Celsius from last year.

Bangkok (VNA) - Thailand is bracing fora hottersummer this year, with the Meteorological Department forecasting anaverage temperature increase of one degree Celsius from last year.

The hottest weather this week has been recorded in theNorth of the country, with temperatures peaking at 41.5°C in Phetchabun’sMueang district on March 23.

Closer toBangkok, the highest temperature was recorded at 38.5°C in Pathum Thani’sKhlong Luang district.

According to the department’s director-general ChompareeChompurat, most areas in upper Thailand willexperience hot weather in the afternoons, with an average temperature of 35.5°C.The highest temperature of 40 to 43°C is expected in Sukhothai, Tak, Lampangand Mae Hong Son, while Bangkok and its surrounding provinces are predicted toexperience a peak of 38 to 39°C. The summer season is expected to last untilthe middle of May.

Chomparee also noted that this year’s cool season lasted two weekslonger than usual. It usually ends in the middle of February, but this year’scool season ended in early March, partly due to cold snaps moving southfrom China./.
