Bangkok (VNA/NNT) - The Thai Ministry of Labour will holddiscussions with related trade unions on opening restricted occupations forforeign workers.

Director-General of the Department of EmploymentVaranon Peetiwan said the ministry has collected public feedback on the currentrestrictions on 39 occupations.

Most of the opinions suggested that the government lift restrictions onoccupations that are unappealing to Thai citizens, such as construction,brickwork, carpentry, waiting tables, agricultural transport, store clerks, gasstation attendants, cashiers, and factory workers.

Varanon revealed that on September 26, his departmentwill meet with various trade unions, such as associations for contractors,architects, industrial works, tourism, employers and employees, retail, andrelated government agencies.

They will discuss occupations that should remain reserved forThai citizens and those that can be outsourced.-VNA
