Thailand’s tourism sector aims to receive 27.8 million tourists in 2015,up 12.2 percent against last year, as the political instability inBangkok has been solved.
The country has been put under martiallaw since the coup in May last year. However, the government has madegreat efforts in attracting more tourists.
Its revenue from foreign tourists is predicted to reach 1.4 trillion THB (44 million USD) this year.
Toreach this goal, from the beginning of the year, the country hasimplemented numerous campaigns to promote tourism, with the opening ofthe 2015 festival tourism programme, which used to be launched in Juneevery year.
The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) alsolaunched a programme called the “2015 Discover Thainess” with a view torecovering the sector and earning roughly 2.2 trillion THB (69 millionUSD) from it.
The Thai tourism sector, which accounts for 10percent of the country’s GDP, aims to welcome 7 million tourists fromthe ASEAN region and 5 million from China in 2015.-VNA
