Bangkok (VNA) – The Thai Ministry of the Interior will intensify its efforts to combat human trafficking in 2016, according to Minister Anupong Paochinda.
The ministry will increase anti-human trafficking campaigns at provincial and district levels throughout the nation, the official said.
He revealed that a special task force will be established to directly handle any cases. It will conduct inspections and investigations in high-risk areas, such as bars, hotels, factories and entertainment venues.
Coastal and border provinces, areas where industrial parks are based and tourist destinations will be focused on, he added.
Furthermore, the ministry will welcome locals to act as watchdogs for human trafficking activities.-VNA
