Bangkok (VNA) – The Thai Government announced on August 24 that there was no link between the two bomb blasts which killed one person in Pattani on August 23 night and the previous string of bomb attacks on several tourism spots in southern provinces.

Defence Minister Prawit Wongsuwan told reporters that the incident in Pattani on August 23 has nothing to do with the attack in seven provinces on August 11 and 12.

Earlier, Thai police reported one person was killed and 30 others were injured when two bombs set off near a hotel in the southern coastal town of Pattani on August 23. The first blast in a parking lot at the back of the Southern View Hotel caused no causalities. The second explosion at the hotel’s entrance killed one and injured 30 others.

The blasts came less than two weeks after a series of explosions hit seven southern provinces, killing four people and injuring dozens.-VNA
