Hanoi (VNA) – Thai pro-democracydemonstrators gathered at Bangkok’s Thammasat University on March 24, demandingthe Government and National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) to run a generalelection in November 2018 as promised last year.
They said more marches will be held iftheir demand is not satisfied.
Rangsiman Rome, one of the protest leaders, said the protesters want the army to stop backing the NCPO and withdraw from politics.
The protest leaders called for dissolutionof the NCPO, and for a general election to be held in November as initiallypromised by the Prayut Chan-o-cha government.
After the Thai army seized power in 2014,the NCPO has delayed the election for several times, with the latest dateexpected to be February 2019.-VNA
