Thailand offers discounts to lure tourists during low season

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has launched a campaign to promote tourism in the low season, or the green season, by offering discounts at major department stores and cheap plane tickets of Thai AirAsia.

TAT Deputy Governor Wilaiwan Thawitsi said the agencyhas invited foreign tourists, especially those from Vietnam , to shopat leading department stores in Thailand and enjoy discounts frommany brand names.

The low-cost airline Thai AirAsia has alsojoined in the TAT’s green season campaign by offering cheap tickets toThailand from Ho Chi Minh and Hanoi for Vietnamese tourists,Wilaiwan said.

The TAT and Thai AirAsia organised the event“Thailand Shopping Paradise with AirAsia” at Aeon Mall in Ho Chi Minhfrom 26-27 July 2014. The event targeted the Vietnamese tourists who hadhigh purchasing power and liked traveling abroad.-VNA

Indonesia begins major oil, gas exploration in Sulawesi

Indonesia's state-owned oil company Pertamina, along with foreign partners Sinopec from China and Kuwait’s Kufpec, has signed a contract to explore the Melati oil and gas block, located off the coast of Sulawesi. The block is estimated to contain trillions of cubic feet of gas reserves.
