Hanoi (VNA) – Thai Deputy Minister and Defence Minister Prawit Wongsuwan is on a two-day visit to Myanmar, aiming at boosting collaboration between two nations.

During his stay, Wongsuwan is scheduled to meet with Myanmar President U Htin Kyaw and State Counselor and Foreign Minister Aung San Suu Kyi.

He will have talks on military cooperation with Commander-in-Chief of the Defense Service Senior-General Min Aung Hlaing and Defense Minister Lt-Gen Sein Win.

The Myanmar Foreign Ministry said on June 29 said Myanmar and Thailand will restart their boundary demarcation that was delayed during the tenure of the former Myanmar government. The two sides will hold a joint border committee meeting in Myanmar on the issue via a diplomatic channel.

Last week, Aung San Suu Kyi made a three-day visit to Thailand. During the visit, the two sides agreed on significant issues in cooperation between the two countries as well as within the ASEAN framework.

They inked three documents, namely a Memorandum of Understanding on labour cooperation, an agreement on cooperation in recruitment and a trans-boundary agreement.

In May, Commander-in-Chief of the Defense Service Senior-General Min Aung Hlaing visited Thailand, elevating bilateral military collaboration to a new high.-VNA
