Speaking at the event, Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai said before theestablishment of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), membercountries gathered in the capital city of Thailand in 1967 and signed theBangkok Declaration, the founding document of ASEAN, to form the bloc.
ASEAN is built on three pillars: the ASEAN Political-Security Community (APSC),the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC), and the ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community(ASCC). The association promotes intergovernmental cooperation and facilitatesthe economic integration of its members.
The Thai Foreign Minister took the opportunity to call on member states tostrengthen their partnerships and cooperation in all respects with theintention of establishing Southeast Asia as a stable and prosperous region./.
