Bangkok (NNT/VNA) –
Thailand has marked the 14th anniversary ofthe tsunami that ravaged six provinces along the Andaman Sea as well ascountries throughout the region.

Deputy Governor of Phang Nga Pongsak Karnwanon led civil servants, privatesector representatives, citizens and foreign visitors in commemorating thedisaster at the province’s Tsunami Memorial Park.

The ceremony includedreligious activities spanning the three faiths of Buddhism, Islam andChristianity, a message from the Prime Minister and a presentation of flowersin front of a wall devoted to the deceased, including Khun Poom Jensen, a childof Princess Ubolratana.

Similar proceedings took place at the Tsunami Memorial Wall in Phuket province,where participants observed a minute of silence for those lost in thecatastrophe across 45 countries. The wall contains the remains of those stillunidentified after losing their lives due to the tsunami and symbolisesremembrance of all who died in the disaster. – NNT/VNA
