A Thai court on September 23 issued an arrest warrant for a new suspect in the Bangkok bombings last month, raising the total number of arrest warrants issued in connection with the blast to 14.

The new suspect is an unidentified man with short hair, who seems to be in his 30s and speak s Thai, Bangkok’s police c hief Srivara Rangsi-prammanaku said.

Security camera footage showed that the suspect bought bomb-making materials at a shop in Bangkok's Klongton area, which were later seized at an apartment in the capital's Nong Chok District, according to Srivara.

The new suspect is charged with illegal possession of explosives. So far, two of the 14 people facing arrest warrants have been captured.

Thai police is seeking arrest warrants for more suspects in the Bangkok’s bombing at Erawan Shrine on August 17 , which killed 20 people and injured more than 120 others, and a subsequent blast at the Sathorn pier, which caused no casualties.

In a related development, Malaysian police announced on September 23 that they had arrested eight suspects with yet-to-confirm links to the Bangkok blasts.-VNA
