Bangkok (VNA) – Thai Prime Minister PrayutChan-o-cha has expected his country to become a startup centre of the worldthat will attract crowds of businesses from multiple countries.
He expressed the hope at a recently held forum entitled “Renovating Thailand byYoung Scientists” which drew the participation of about 500 startup representatives.
The Thai leader affirmed that the government wishes to develop Thailand into a “startupnation”.
At the forum, many startups proposed the government to change startup-relatedlaws, thus enabling them to access capital sources favourably.
The government should support startups and consider them an important forcethat contributes to national development, they said.
The Thai government is preparing plans for the second phase of the startup developmentprogramme in 2019-2021 with a hope of increasing the national GDP by 5 percent,creating 50,000 jobs and having additional 1,000 startups.-VNA
