Thailand extends waiver on visa fee for foreign tourists

Thailand has decided to extend the waiver on visa-on-arrival fee for citizens of particular nations in order to attract more foreign tourists during the traditional lunar New Year of some Asian countries which falls on February 5.

Hanoi (VNA) – Thailand has decided to extend the waiver onvisa-on-arrival fee for citizens of particular nations in order to attract moreforeign tourists during the traditional lunar New Year of some Asian countrieswhich falls on February 5.

The waiver on the 2,000-baht (about 60 USD) visa-on-arrival fee for nationalsfor 20 counties was set end on January.13. It started in last November.

The Thai government expects the extension to benefit foreign tourists, and drawthem to Thailand during the lunar New Year in early February and the watersplashing festival in the mid-April.

According to the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, Thailand received over 34million international visitors, up by 7.53 percent over the same period of lastyear, generating an estimated 1.8 billion baht in tourism revenue, up by 9.79percent.
