Thailand is expecting a bright future for the country's tourism industry, with an estimated 11 percent increase in inbound air passengers this high season from October 2014 to March next year.
Thailand is expecting a bright future for the country's tourismindustry, with an estimated 11 percent increase in inbound airpassengers this high season from October 2014 to March next year.

It is expected that 50.95 million arrivals will enter Thailand inthe period, up 10 percent from the high season last year, with 337,500flights landing on Suvarnabhumi, Don Mueang, Chiang Mai, Hat Yai, Phuketand Chiang Rai airports, according to Airport of Thailand Plc'sdirector Nirandra Theeranatsin.

In the first nine months ofthis year, foreign arrivals in Thailand fell by 10 percent to 17.6million and tourism revenue slid 7.6 percent to 807 billion THB.

TheTourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) said bookings related to tourismservices dropped 18 percent in August, 12 percent in September and areexpected to fall 6.8 percent this month.

TATgovernor Thawatchai Arunyik earlier said the organisation revised downits 2014 tourism target many times, and now is hoping to attract 1.9trillion THB in revenue and 25.5 million arrivals, down from theoriginal expectation of 28 million, according to Bangkok Postnewspaper.-VNA
