Bangkok (VNA) – The Thai Democratic Party requested on February 22 to amend the country’s temporary constitution.

Spokesman for the Democratic Party Ramet Rattanachaweng said the party’s specific request requires an amendment to the temporary constitution, in case the draft of the new constitution will not pass the referendum.

He added the government has to clearly specify its next selection so people can have the information before they vote.

The party has also requested that the Constitution Drafting Committee (CDC) should include in the draft version mechanisms to give the public the power in anti-corruption issues.

It said the draft constitution will need to have a mechanism and system which will allow the public to participate in anti-corruption; while protecting citizens, socio-political organistions that go against corruption and protect witnesses as a part of judicial procedure.

The draft constitution should have principles and mechanisms in order to prevent the intervention of the judicial system from central to localities, and contain corruption acts in all levels .-VNA
