Thailand confirms 24 swine flu deaths

The A/H1N1 virus, known as swine flu, has claimed 24 lives in Thailand since early this year, national health officials said on April 24.

According to theNational News Bureau of Thailand, the highest mortality rate is amongpatients in the 45-64 age group. From January to mid-April, up to 29,821people tested positive to the virus, largely in the north.

First appearing in Mexico in 2009, the H1N1 virus is transmissible fromhuman to human. It resulted in a global epidemic that hit many countrieshard around the world.-VNA

Indonesia begins major oil, gas exploration in Sulawesi

Indonesia's state-owned oil company Pertamina, along with foreign partners Sinopec from China and Kuwait’s Kufpec, has signed a contract to explore the Melati oil and gas block, located off the coast of Sulawesi. The block is estimated to contain trillions of cubic feet of gas reserves.
