Bangkok (NNT/VNA) – Thailandand Austria eye strengthening ties in many respects as both nations celebratetheir 64th anniversary of diplomatic relations this year.

ACM Narongsak Sangapong, executive directorof the Thailand-Austria Parliamentary Friendship Group, has welcomed AustrianMP and member of the People’s Party Werner Amon during the latter’s officialvisit to Thailand. The reception took place at the Thai Parliament House.

ACM Narongsak said he was glad to host Amonand expressed his willingness on behalf of Thailand to work with Austria andthe Austrian Parliament on all matters – economics, education, tourism, andsocial development – while at the same time enhancing legislative cooperationfor more concrete results.

ACM Narongsak then thanked Austria for itsunderstanding towards the current political situation in Thailand, assuring thevisiting side of Thailand’s commitment to following the reform roadmap.

Amon was also told that the next generalelection can be expected no later than next year.

Expressing his hope in reply, the AustrianMP said Austria and Thailand should continue their active cooperation in allrespects, given the fact that Thailand is Austria’s gateway to Southeast Asiawhereas Austria serves as Thailand’s gateway to Europe. -VNA
