Thailand, Australia discuss bilateral cooperation

Bangkok (NNT/VNA) - Thailand’s Deputy Prime Minister and JusticeMinister, ACM Prajin Juntong, and the Australian Foreign Affairs Minister,Marise Payne, discussed bilateral cooperation for the prosperity and securityof both countries.

The Australian official paid a courtesy call on the Deputy Prime Minister atGovernment House, Bangkok, on January 10.

During the meeting, Thailand has pledged to work closely with Australia on thesuppression of drugs and human trafficking.

Ms. Payne said the two countries have long enjoyed a close relationship. Shesaid Australia is willing to share its expertise and work with Thailand andother countries in the region to solve transnational crimes. She added thatAustralia supports Thailand as the chairmanship of the ASEAN this year.

After the meeting, the Australian Foreign Affairs Minister and Thailand'sDigital Economy and Society Minister, Dr. Pichet Durongkaveroj, signed amemorandum of understanding (MOU) on cyber and digital cooperation between theThai and Australian governments to help increase Thailand’s and the region'scapabilities against cyber threats. – NNT/VNA
