Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam and Thailand are hoped to soon reach an agreement on labour cooperation given the recent establishment of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC). 

Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue made the remark at a reception for Thai Ambassador to Vietnam Manopchai Vongphakdi in Hanoi on October 24. 

He proposed Thailand expand professions recruiting Vietnamese workers and accelerate the construction of thermal power projects in Vietnam’s central province of Quang Tri, which is positioned in the East-West Economic Corridor, for mutual benefits. 

The Deputy PM also suggested Thailand along with Vietnam promote the common voice and central role of ASEAN in relations with intra-bloc countries and other global economies. 

He noted that Vietnam has established relations with many countries in the region and beyond, and particularly treasures the rapport with other ASEAN member states, including Thailand . 

The Vietnamese Government always supports the two business communities’ ties and vows to spare no efforts to develop the win-win cooperation, he confirmed. 

The Thai Ambassador expressed his belief in the two countries' growing collaboration, especially in investment and trade. 

He said he was confident that two-way trade will reach 20 billion USD in the coming years as targeted.-VNA
