Bangkok (VNA) – The Thai army confirmed on August 15 that all five people were killed when their helicopter which went missing one day earlier crashed in Chiang Mai.
The dead included Major General Nopporn Ruanchan, who was commander of the army's Infantry Division 4, said Lieutenant General Somsak Ninbanjerdkun, commander of Military Zone 3.
Poor visibility due to the weather may have caused the crash, he added.
Helicopter UH-72 went missing at about 10:30 (local time) on August 14 with five officers on board.
The missing chopper was returning to a base in Phitsaanuloke from a relief operation mission in Pai district, near the border with Myanmar.-VNA
