Thailand aims for at least 3 golds at ASEAN Skills Competition

Thailand has set a goal of pocketing at least three gold medals at the ongoing 10th ASEAN Skills Competition in Hanoi , said Director-General of the Thai Department of Skill Development Puntrick Smiti.

The golds are expected to come from welding, food and beverage services and tile installation.

She said during the October 19-29 event, Thai representatives willcompete in 21 categories such as welding technology, tile installation,wood joint, brick installation, web design, automobile technology, andfood and beverage services.

According to the director-general,Thailand is quite confident in winning the top prize in welding as itscompetitors used to be the champions in previous competitions, both atASEAN and world levels.

The biennial competition isheld to demonstrate ASEAN commitments to developing qualified humanresources to match world standards and offer an opportunity for membersto show off their vocational skills.-VNA
