Thai tourism sector earns 1.33 trillion THB in six months
The Thai Ministry of Tourism and Sports has revealed that the tourism revenue in the past six months increased by as much as 4.6 percent compared to the same period a year before.
Bangkok (VNA/NNT) - The Thai Ministry of Tourism and Sports has revealedthat the tourism revenue in the past six months increased by as much as 4.6percent compared to the same period a year before.
Tourismand Sports Minister Kobkarn Wattanavrangkul disclosed that Thailand earned 1.33trillion THB from tourism from October last year to March 27 this year. Out ofthe total revenue, 860 billion THB came from foreign tourists and the remainingwas from domestic tourism.
Revenuegenerated from foreign and Thai tourists increased by 2.7 percent and 8.3percent, respectively, during this period. The majority of foreign visitorswere from China, Russia, Malaysia, England and the United States.
The Andaman Sea was ranked the most popular destination in Thailand followed bythe northern region and the east coast.
In aneffort to promote sports tourism, the Cabinet has endorsed a decision to allowThailand to host an international conference called ‘Sport Accord Convention2018’, which will be held in April next year. It is aimed at boosting sportstourism in the country by 30 percent and encouraging Thais to play sports.-VNA
