Thai Prime Minister pays official visit to Africa

Thai Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Yingluck Shinawatra arrived at Maputo city of Mozambique on July 28, beginning the first ever visit by a Thai Premier to African countries comprising Mozambique, Tanzania and Uganda.

Her six-day visit aims to strength economic ties between Thailand and the three African countries.

After their arrival, they were escorted to the Polana Serena Grand Hotel, which the Mozambican government prepared for them.

They were later taken to the city's Craft, Flowers, and Food Centrebefore meeting with representatives of the Thai private sector whoaccompanied her on the trip in order to exchange opinions on economiccooperation with the African countries during the visit.-VNA

Indonesia begins major oil, gas exploration in Sulawesi

Indonesia's state-owned oil company Pertamina, along with foreign partners Sinopec from China and Kuwait’s Kufpec, has signed a contract to explore the Melati oil and gas block, located off the coast of Sulawesi. The block is estimated to contain trillions of cubic feet of gas reserves.
