According to the law, ivory processors are required toobtain licences from the Department of National Parks, Wildlife andPlant Conservation. If they fail to do so, they could face up to 6million THB in fines and three years in prison.
The PrimeMinister said the government is expected to enforce more regulationsthis year in order to suppress illegal ivory trade. He urged all sidesto cooperate with the government in dealing with the ivory problem, asit could result in international trade sanctions.-VNA
