Thai Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives Chatchai Sarikalya has visited Japan to boost bilateral cooperation in agriculture and fisheries.

Bangkok (VNA/NNT) - Thai Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives Chatchai Sarikalyahas visited Japan to boost bilateral cooperation in agriculture and fisheries.

During his stay in Tokyo, the minister met with Keiichi Ishii, Japanese Ministerof Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism. He thanked the Japanesegovernment for assisting Thailand in water management through JapanInternational Cooperation Agency (JICA).

Then ChatchaiSarikalya and Yuji Yamamoto, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries ofJapan signed a memorandum of understanding on combating IUU fishing between thetwo ministries.

This deal would benefit Thailand greatly, as products from fisheries accountfor 21.37 percent of its entire exports.-VNA
