Hanoi (VNA) – A texting campaign was launched in Hanoi on March 12 inorder to raise funds to support Agent Orange (AO)/dioxin victims.
The Central Committee of the Vietnam Association of Victimsof Agent Orange/dioxin (VAVA) and the National Humanitarian Portal 1400 calledon organisations and individuals nationwide to support the campaign by textingDA CAM to 1409 from now to May 8. Each message means a donation worth 20,000VND to the victims.
Speaking at the launching ceremony, VAVA Chairman Nguyen VanRinh said the association has run the SMS campaign since 2011, collecting over 20billion VND (858,200 USD) in total.
Last year, the programme raised nearly 1 billion VND, whichwas then used to repair houses for AO/dioxin victims, and present gifts totheir families and care centres on special days.
This year, the programme sets a target of mobilising 2billion VND.
On the occasion, the association presented certificates ofmerit to four collectives and four individuals in recognition of their assistance toAO/dioxin victims in 2019.
