Textile-garment exports to Japan expect 20 pct rise

Vietnam’s textile and garment exports to Japan is forecast to grow by 20 percent year on year to between 900 million USD and 1 billion USD this year.

Theexpected increase is based on the fact that Vietnamese textile andgarment businesses officially enjoyed preferential export tax rate ofzero percent as of July 1, 2009, said the Vietnam Textile and ApparelAssociation.

According to the Vietnam-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement, thenation’s textile and garment exports to Japan using materials importedfrom Japan and other members of the Association of Southeast AsianNations (ASEAN) will enjoy a tax rate of zero percent instead ofearlier 5-10 percent./.
