High-ranking officials of the Party and State on January 23 visited and offered greetings to people with disadvantages in Hau Giang, Quang Ngai, and Binh Thuan provinces, ahead of the Lunar New Year (Tet).

Hanoi (VNA) – High-ranking officials of the Party and State on January 23visited and offered greetings to people with disadvantages in Hau Giang, QuangNgai, and Binh Thuan provinces, ahead of the Lunar New Year (Tet).

Inthe Mekong Delta province of Hau Giang, a delegation led by Tran Thanh Man,Politburo member and Standing Vice Chairman of the National Assembly (NA), visiteddisadvantaged workers, war invalids, poor households, and those withdifficulties.

PresentingTet gifts to 150 social policy beneficiary, low-income, and less privilegedfamilies in Chau Thanh A district, he offered the best New Year wishes to the localParty organisation, administration, and people. He highly valued the province’sachievements in economic development and social security ensuring last year,especially the completion of 1,400 houses for the poor.

Manalso symbolically presented Tet gifts to 500 disadvantaged households in HauGiang.

Thedelegation also paid pre-Tet visits to needy workers of a company based in the TanPhu Thanh Industrial Park and a war invalid in Thanh Xuan commune of Chau ThanhA district.

The same day, NA Vice Chairman Tran Quang Phuong attended a Tet celebrationprogramme held by the Labour Federation of central Quang Ngai province forlocal workers.

Theprovincial Labour Federation handed over 2,500 gift packages and 30 houses worth1.5 billion VND (61,000 USD) in total to workers with difficulties. It also announcedsponsorship for two orphans who are children of local workers until they reachthe age of 18.

Phuongpraised the dynamism and creativity of the Party Committee, People’s Committee,Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Committee, along with all-level trade unions of QuangNgai in caring for local workers’ material and spiritual life over the pastyears.

Heexpressed sympathies for the ones with disadvantages and called on them to keepexerting efforts to get rid of poverty and improve their life quality. He alsoasked local authorities to assist trade unions to care for workers’ life so as tocontribute to the development of businesses and the province.

Onthis occasion, 13 units and businesses donated over 405 million VND to joinhands with the provincial Labour Federation in the work. The federation alsopersuaded businesses to offer 10 - 35% discounts on the goods sold at theLabour Culture House of Quang Ngai on January 23 - 24 so that workers canprepare for the coming biggest traditional festival.

Inthe south-central province of Binh Thuan, a delegation led by NA Vice ChairmanNguyen Duc Hai presented Tet gifts to disadvantaged families in Bac Binhdistrict.

Applaudingthe development of Bac Binh in 2023, Hai said the gifts aim to contribute to amerry Tet for all.

Hevoiced his hope that local authorities and people will keep upholdingsolidarity to weather difficulties and challenges to fulfill this year’spolitical tasks, develop the locality, and better care for people’s lifequality.

Visitingthe Binh Thuan exhibition centre for the Cham ethnic culture, the delegationsent Tet greetings and presented gifts to representatives of Phan Thanh, PhanHiep, and Phan Hoa communes, home to a large number of ethnic minority people.Gifts were also presented to 15 religious dignitaries and seven outstanding artisansof the Cham ethnic group, 30 students from underprivileged backgrounds, and 30poor households of this ethnic minority.

Onthis occasion, the Petrovietnam Gas Joint Stock Corporation and the VFF CentralCommittee also handed over Tet gifts worth 340 million VND in total to residentsin Binh Thuan./.
