The monkeys were handedover to the Bai Tu Long Park by the Hoang Lien wildlife rescue, conservation, anddevelopment centre in the northern mountainous province of Lao Cai. They belong to four species - long-tailed, rhesus, Assam, and stump-tailedmacaques, scientifically known as Macaca fascicularis, Macaca mulatta, Macacaassamensis, and Macaca arctoides, respectively.
All the monkeys are healthy, free from infectious diseases, not injured or disabled,capable of adaptation and self-sustenance after release. They can form groups without causing conflicts or disrupt the balance of the reintroduction area.
In recent years, the 15,783ha BaiTu Long national park has received and released more than 200 wildlifeindividuals.
Located in the Bai Tu Long bay, it is the 6th national park in Vietnam and the 38th ASEANHeritage Park, housing approximately 2,000 species of animals and plants,including 102 listed in the Vietnam Red Book of rare and endangered species./.
