Teenagers join forum to promote rights

Almost 100 children aged from 10-16 years old have registered to attend a forum on promoting children’s Right to Participation to be held in Hanoi from Nov. 20-21.
Almost 100 children aged from 10-16 years old have registered to attend aforum on promoting children’s Right to Participation to be held inHanoi from Nov. 20-21, that encourages them to join in developing anational programme of action for children in the next decade.

The Vietnam Association for Protection of the Rights of the Childsaid at a press briefing in Hanoi on November 19 that the event isco-sponsored by the association and Save the Children-Vietnamorganisation.

Organisers will provide childrenwith opportunities to join in group discussions, lecturing and dialoguesas well as to raise voices on targets of the group “Rights toParticipation” in the national programme of action for children in the2011-20 period.

The participants will also betrained in the knowledge of the Right to Participation as well as skillsto discover issues related to exercising the rights of the child in thecommunity. They will organise activities for children mostly based onchildren’s clubs in order to increase their awareness and promote theexercise of children’s rights in the community.

Most worthy of note is that the forum will hold a dialogue round betweenchildren and leaders of the National Assembly, ministries, professionaland social organisations as a bridge to connect children with adults.

Recommendations and proposals made by children atthe forum will be used as references for responsible agencies incompiling the national programme on children for the next decade./.

The Mekong Delta province of Bac Lieu on October 21 signed a cooperation agreement with Uiseong county, Gyeongsangbuk-do province of the Republic of Korea (RoK) on sending local labourers to the RoK to work seasonally under the form of locality-to-locality collaboration between the two countries in the 2023 - 2027 period.

Tien Giang strives to reduce poverty rate to 0.87% this year

Chinese sick sailor on vessel AMIS STAR provided with first aid
