Hanoi (VNA) - Almost a third of morethan 4,100 enterprises surveyed in Vietnam do business on social networks, aslight decrease from the previous year, according to a survey conducted by VietnamE-commerce Association (VECOM).

The survey on Vietnamese e-commerce activities from September to November in2017 unveiled that 32 percent said they were using social networks, which isdown 2 percent compared to 2016.

Business on social networks is a trend among small- and medium-sizedenterprises, business households and individuals in recent years, said thereport.

In addition to social networks, e-commerce platform is also a useful tool forsmall and medium enterprises, but the trend of using e-commerce trading floorshas not changed dramatically over the past few years.

Eleven percent of businesses surveyed said they traded on e-commerce sites in2017, down slightly compared to that of the previous year at 13 percent.

VECOM said the year 2015 marked the boom in the trend of mobile commerce.

Along with the development of mobile infrastructure, businesses have investedmore on this new platform, from upgrading mobile-friendly websites todeveloping applications.

However, according to the survey, this trend seems to be leveling off with theproportion of websites compatible with mobile devices not increasing, accounting for 17 percent of the total surveyed enterprises, and down 2 percentcompared to 2016.

"It can be seen that many businesses do not really see the effect from thisplatform and the demand for mobile-based shopping is only suitable for bigcities like Hanoi and HCM City," online newspaper ictnews.vn quoted aVECOM representative.

The survey also found the percentage of businesses that have mobileapplications was 15 percent last year, equal to the rate in 2016.

Android is still the most popular platform, accounting for 71 percent; followedby the iOS with 43 percent and Windows 40 percent.

"This data does not change much compared to that of 2016 survey," therepresentative said.

In addition, VECOM’s survey also said that up to 39 percent of businessesquestioned highly rated online sales through social networks, the highest amongonline tools, followed by sales via enterprise websites (35 percent), mobileapplications (22 percent) and e-commerce trading floors (18 percent).

The survey also revealed that domain name ".vn" was chosen by the topcompanies when building websites with 47 percent of businesses using it,followed by ".com" with 42 percent. -VNA
