Hanoi (VNA) – The Ministry ofCulture, Sports and Tourism’s Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT)and the Vietnam Tourism Association (VTA) introduced a diverse range ofactivities from the tourism sector on the occasion of the upcoming DPRK-USAHanoi Summit Vietnam at a press conference in Hanoi on February 25.
Deputy head of the VNAT Ha Van Sieu said that theselection of Hanoi as host of the second DPRK-USA summit, taking place fromFebruary 27-28, means a greater spotlight on Vietnam and the capital city. Ithas been frequently mentioned in international media as a special, safe andfriendly destination capable of facilitating such a major and important event.
This has created excellent opportunities for thetourism sector to lure more foreign tourists to Vietnam, he added.
To prepare the best conditions for the summit,the ministry has urged culture and tourism facilities in Hanoi to ensure environmentalsanitation, as well as host and guide international reporters during thetwo-day event.
The VNAT asked Hanoi and other localities toincrease their quality inspections of tourism services to ensure the best for thehigh-level delegations, international reporters, and tourists before, duringand after the summit.
The agency has also worked with the Ministry ofForeign Affairs to proactively provide information about Vietnam’s tourism through videos, the Vietnam TourGuide e-publication, the tourism website www.vietnam.travel,as well as the ministry’s international press registration site www.dprk-usasummit2019.mofa.gov.vn.
In particular, the VNAT has created a space todisplay photos of popular destinations, including heritage sites, acrossVietnam.
The VNAT, in coordination with the VTA, havehung large billboards introducing free tours for reporters which include the Hanoicity tour and trips to Café Hanoi, Bat Trang ceramics village, and UNESCO worldheritage site Ha Long Bay arranged by the prestigious travel companiesHanoitourist and Saigontourist.
The over 3,000 reporters from global mediaoutlets arriving in Vietnam to cover the upcoming summit will be able todiscover special tourism products and services both in Hanoi and aroundVietnam.
After the summit, the VNAT plans to host a widerange of activities to promote Vietnam’s tourism in the US, Russia, theRepublic of Korea, and Japan. –VNA
