DangThe Hung, deputy head of the State Committee for Overseas VietnameseAffairs (COVA) under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said at a July 3press conference in Hanoi that the event will be a good chance foroverseas Vietnamese youths to learn more about the nation’s sovereigntyand patriotic tradition.
With the theme “My country’s sea andislands”, this year’s summer camp will be held in many localitiesacross the country from July 8-27.
Participants will join astring of activities such as tours of the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and theVan Mieu- Quoc Tu Giam (Temple of Literature) in Hanoi, and exchangeswith young people in Quang Ninh and Quang Ngai provinces.
Highlights of the event will be an opening ceremony on July 11 in thenorthern coastal province of Quang Ninh and art exchange on July 19 incentral coastal Da Nang city.
The annual event, organised bythe COVA since 2003, creates an opportunity for overseas youngsters tolearn about national traditions, culture and history, as well as enhancesolidarity and exchanges.-VNA
