QuangNgai (VNA) – A project to provide free summer lessons for students inLy Son island district was launched at Ly Son High School in the centralprovince of Quang Ngai on June 15.
Theproject is organised by ICE Vietnam, a non-profit organisation established in2014, as part of the Yale Young Global Scholars programme.
Fifteenvolunteers were selected from a total of 500 applicants from prestigiousdomestic and international universities. They will teach about 130 high schoolstudents in the district to expand their knowledge and help them prepare forhigh school exams.
Thestudents will also participate in a project on environmental protection andreceive more than 400 books.
Threescholarships worth 10 million VND (441 USD) each and two scholarships worth 5million VND (220 USD) each will be presented to outstanding students at the endof the project.
VoMinh Phuong, Vice Principal of the Ly Son High School, expressed his hope thatthe project will improve the students’ knowledge and social skills, along withhelping them choose appropriate universities or colleges.-VNA
