Hanoi (VNA) – A programme on economicrecovery and development is scheduled to be submitted to the National Assembly's extraordinary session  in late 2021, heard the Government’s regular press conference onDecember 2.

According to Deputy Minister of Planning andInvestment Tran Quoc Phuong, the five groups of solutions set in the programmeare strong enough to reboot and develop the national economy.

They cover such areas as health care; social welfare; supportto businesses, cooperatives and households; and stimulation of publicinvestment and administrative reform.

The Ministry of Planning and Investment plans to recommend the Government proposes implementing theprogramme for about two years, mainly in 2022 and 2023, Phuong said.

The Deputy Minister stressed that fiscal and monetary tools will be the main ones to implement the solutions, in combination with other tools such as the participation of non-budget State funds, corporate funds and the private sector under the public-private partnership(PPP).

Minister-Chairman of the Government Office Tran VanSon briefed the press on outcomes of the Government meeting that took placeearlier the same day, during which Cabinet members reviewed the implementationof Resolution No. 28/NQ-CP on safe, flexible adapt to and effective control ofCOVID-19, and other relevant documents.

He said given the complex developments of thepandemic, plus the appearance of the Omicron variant, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinhhas required ministries, agencies and localities to continue implementing Resolution 28. He stressed the need to stay calm but vigilant, and quickly draw up responsescenarios and plans.

Regarding the resumption of international commercialflights, Deputy Minister of Transport Nguyen Ngoc Dong said his ministry hasput forth a plan and reported it to the Prime Minister.

Under the plan, flightsto Japan, the Republic of Korea (RoK) and 10 other countrieswould be reopened in three stages, each with a specific roadmap and pandemic prevention measures.

The Transport Ministry has held working sessions withthe Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Public Security, Health Care and Culture,Sports and Tourism, and other relevant ministries and agencies to perfect theplan.
Dong added that talks with relevant countries are under way based on the set roadmaps, but due to the emergence of the new coronavirus variant, countries have become more cautious./.
