At least three people have died byearly Aug 18, while torrential rains damaged hundreds of hectares ofcrops and floods isolated many villages, according to the CentralCommittee for Flood and Storm Prevention.
The storm, withwinds of up to 73kph, also brought heavy rains to the northeasternregion, including Hanoi, Hai Phong and Quang Ninh.
InHanoi, a taxi driver was killed when a huge tree fell on his cab inLo Duc Street in Hai Ba Trung district, and at least five othersinjured as fringe winds hit at about 4pm on Aug. 17.
Initial reports from the State-owned Hanoi Tree and Park Company showedthat more than 80 trees, including many more than a century old, wereblown down throughout the city.
In less than half an hour,heavy rains created flash floods about 30cm deep in many parts of thecapital city and Hai Phong, causing severe traffic jams.
After landing, the storm had weakened into a low tropical depression,and local people have been warned to watch out for flash floods.-VNA
