Hanoi (VNA) – President NguyenXuan Phuc received Dr. Philipp Rosler, the first Honorary Consul of Vietnam inSwitzerland, in Hanoi on January 22.

The State leader appreciated enormouscontributions to the Vietnam - Switzerland ties by Rosler, who is also formerVice Chancellor of Germany and a Vietnamese-origin person returning to attendthe Homeland’s Spring programme.

President Phuc also noted that Vietnamwishes to enhance the strategic partnership with Germany, especially ininformation technology, infrastructure, renewable energy, digitaltransformation, and green economy. He asked the former Vice Chancellor ofGermany to continue supporting bilateral relations, especially as theEuropean country recently had a new government.

He called on Rosler, as the HonoraryConsul of Vietnam in Switzerland, to actively popularise Vietnam and itseconomic potential and persuade Swiss businesses with modern and green technologyto invest in the Southeast Asian nation.

At the meeting, the host leader also repeatedthe appeal to Rosler and Swiss enterprises for supporting and promoting theearly signing of a free trade agreement between Vietnam and the European FreeTrade Association, as agreed by the Vietnamese and Swiss Presidents in earlyDecember 2021./.
