Bac Ninh (VNA) - Nearly 1,000 parents and over 400 autistic childrenjoined in a vibrant sport festival in the northern province of Bac Ninh onApril 1.
The activity was held as part of the third Vietnam Autism Awareness Day held bythe Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA) in collaborationwith the Vietnam Autism Network (VAN), the Centre for Creative Initiatives inHealth and Population and the Rubic Collaborative voluntary organisation.
VAN President Hoang Ngoc Bich said that the event aimed to raise publicawareness of autism and campaign more efforts to integrate autistic childreninto the society.
Also, it served as a venue to share information on how to take care of autisticchildren as well as call for more public’s interest in autistic kids, sheadded.
According to Deputy Director General of the Department of Social Assistanceunder the MoLISA To Duc, as the number of autistic children is increasing in citiesand it has become a pressing issue, the MoLISA will work to complete legaldocuments on people with disabilities, focusing on establishing standards toexamine, evaluate and identify autistic people. They will come up with rationaleducation and healthcare models for autistic kids, he said.
The ministry will channel more efforts to enhance communication works onautism as well as improve capacity for those who take care of autisticchildren.-VNA
