The third Southern Conference on Haematology and Blood Transfusion opened on August 21 in Da Nang city.
The event was co-organised by the Ho Chi Minh City Association of Haematology and Blood Transfusion and the Ho Chi Minh City Hospital of Haematology and Blood Transfusion.
It drew participants from more than 750 domestic and overseas delegates, including guests from the US, France, Belgium, and Japan.
This year’s conference heard nearly 100 reports including 17 essays introducing new international research projects to be applied in Vietnam in the near future.
Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Hospital of Haematology and Blood Transfusion Phu Chi Dung said the event presents an opportunity for domestic and international experts to share their experienced and learn the latest updates in the field.
The biennial event, first launched in 2011, marks the development of the sector in the south in particular and in the nation in general.
This year also marks the 20 th anniversary of the first successful stem cell transplant in Vietnam.-VNA
