Hanoi (VNA) – Indonesia’s Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan has said that the city administrationwould limit public interaction as a precautionary measure to protect local residents fromthe COVID-19 outbreak.
Anies said his administration would followthe example of Singapore and Vietnam, which proactively restricted publicgatherings before the virus spread widely.
The governor also said declared that priority will be given to carry out preventivemeasures to protect the public even though they may cause economic losses.
The Indonesian Government’s report on March 11 showed that 34 peoplewere confirmed positive forSARS-CoV-2 in the country, including onedeath.
Along with Indonesia, other nations in Southeast Asia have taken measures toprevent the spread of the disease.
The Lao Ministry of Health has called on shopping centers, hotels andrestaurants to continue to closely monitor their premises and customers in abid to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
The government is also urging everyone to be on their guard and takeprecautions such as distancing themselves from people with coughs.
In Malaysia, the Ministry of Health called for the postponement of mass gatheringsafter at least 12 coronavirus cases were linked to a three-day religious eventin Kuala Lumpur.
So far, 149 infection cases have been reported in Malaysia./.
