Hanoi (VNA) – The Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) and the World Bank(WB) will join hands to install five solar power calculating stationsnationwide as part of a joint campaign to promote the development of renewableenergies in the country.
Besides collecting high-quality data on radiation, the stations will improvethe accuracy of solar energy estimation. The data will be made public free ofcharge on the website of Global Solar Atlas (globalsolaratlas.info) and isexpected to support investors who are interested in building solar powerplants.
Vietnam’s average solar power potential is displayed at the Global Solar Atlaswhich has the capacity to zoom into area in great detail with a spatialresolution of 1 kilometre.
The WB’s support in setting up solar energy calculators is part of a projectbacked by the Energy Sector Management Assistance Programme (ESMAP).
The price of solar energy production is declining in the world and Vietnam ismaking a giant stride in promoting the clean power generation, said OusmaneDione, WB Country Director for Vietnam.
He underlined that the WB will continue its support for Vietnam to meetincreasing demand for electricity with a line-up of sustainable measures likebuilding hydroelectric plants, saving more energy in industrial production andenhancing the efficiency of power grid in transmission and distribution.-VNA
