Singapore (VNA) –Singapore has officially opened Toll City, a logistics hub worth 228 millionSGD (167 million USD) situated close to the soon-to-be-opened Tuas Port.
The more than 100,000 sq.m hub is located nearroad links to Malaysia and the growing Jurong region of Singapore. It isexpected to improve the Toll Group’s Asia-Pacific network and traffic flow.
Toll City is designed to serve local andregional markets for sectors such as retail, fast moving consumer goods, andhealthcare. It has accommodated new technologies such as driverless trucks and3D printing.
The healthcare hub in Toll City provides itsclients with smart cabinets, which can store high-value medical tools, keep real-timedata of stock levels, and automatically request replenishments when stocksreach their reorder point.
With the SiTadeL Control Tower, Toll City hasbeen addressing Singapore’s urban logistical challenges with real-timevisibility and monitoring of moving assets. As a result, they offer anintegrated supply chain management process that can prepare for surge periodsand potential supply chain disruptions caused by human or natural disasters.
Singaporean Trade and Industry Minister ChanChun Sing said, “The need for efficient, timely urban logistics must not beunderestimated as we progress into the future. This is why, in Singapore, weare going to test out new concepts in urban logistics solutions and build theseskills into a key competitive branch.” -VNA
