At a cyber security seminar in Singapore on August 26, Ministerfor Communication and Information Dr Yaacob Ibrahim said that theGovernment is upgrading its Cyber Watch Centre to observe and promptlycope with hackers’ activities. The upgrade process is projected to becompleted by Jan 2015.
According to the minister, large-scale cyber security violence cases have caught public concern.
To prevent such incidents, Singapore will initially increase thenumber of cyber security experts and develop applications to concreteits cyber network.
Last year, the websites ofPrime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and President Tony Tan and otherGovernment portals were hacked after a member of an international hackerorganisation named Anonymous demanded the country remove itsregulations requiring local websites to get license annually.-VNA
