Shrimp export made a record high of 4.1 billion USD in 2014, whichexpanded by 25 percent from 2013, according to the Ministry ofAgriculture and Rural Development.
The figure largely helpedVietnam’s aquatic export turnover reach 7.9 billion USD for the fullyear, a rise of 18 percent from a year ago.
The US remains the largest importer of Vietnamese shrimp, which has recently seen a surge in orders from the EU.
The product received growing demand from others markets, like the Republic of Korea, Australia, and Canada.
Deputy General Secretary of the Vietnam Association of SeafoodExporters & Producers (VASEP) Nguyen Hoai Nam said local exportersneed to focus on retaining the quality of products in order to maintain ahigh growth trend as well as added values.
Up to 165countries and territories are importing Vietnamese aquatic products. TheUS, the EU, Japan, the Republic of Korea, and the ASEAN countries aremajor importers.-VNA
