HCM City (VNA) - With International Women’s Day approaching, people are flocking to supermarkets and shops to buy gifts for their loved ones.

Supermarkets and shops are hoping to take advantage of the day and boost sales of cosmetics, clothes and gifts through promotions.

Co.opmart and Co.op Xtra supermarkets nationwide have launched three promotion programmes, offering discounts of up to 50 percent on hundreds of products such as cosmetics, fashion products and household appliances, together with gifts, until March 13.

Co.opmart and Co.opXtra have worked with prestigious brands like Dove, Hazeline, Tresemme, Enchanteur and Double Rich to launch gift sets with prices starting from 49,000 VND (2.1 USD) each.

The two supermarkets are also offering discounts of 10-20 percent on fresh foods, and up to 50 percent on infrared cookers, rice cookers, gas cookers and stainless steel pots.

Similarly, Big C has launched a special programme called “Ton vinh ve dep Viet” (honouring Vietnamese beauty) at all of its stores nationwide until March 14.

Under the programme, more than 1,000 products, including skin, body care, cosmetics and health products, fashion and fashion accessories and nutrition products have prices discounted by 5-49 percent.

Female customers will also be offered free consultations on makeup, skincare and hair care.

The supermarket also offers gift boxes with eye-catching designs with prices ranging from 37,700 VND to 154,500 VND (6.9 USD) box.

Fashion and cosmetics shops along Nguyen Trai street in District 5, and Nguyen Dinh Chieu and Le Van Sy streets in District 3, are offering attractive discounts on this occasion.

Thai Tuan Group Corporation has launched new ao dai fabric collections and presented valuable gifts for customers with bills worth at least 499,000 VND (22.3 USD).

Those buying from 1.5 million VND (67.2 USD) and above will enjoy 15 percent discount.

Jewellery companies such as SJC and PNJ have introduced new collections and launched promotions.

In addition to cosmetics and new clothes, flowers are also at the top of the list of gifts given on International Women’s Day.

Dalat Hasfarm has prepared a large amount of roses, including Red Naomi, Ocean Song, Armando, Deep Water and Cool Water to meet the high demand for roses on the occasion.-VNA
