Shoes, leather exhibition opens in HCM City

The 19th International Shoes and Leather Exhibition opened in Ho Chi Minh City on July 12, offering local and foreign firms in the leather industry a chance to explore business opportunities.

HCM City (VNA) - The 19th InternationalShoes and Leather Exhibition opened in Ho Chi Minh City on July 12, offeringlocal and foreign firms in the leather industry a chance to explore businessopportunities.

The exhibition has attracted more than 700exhibitors from 30 countries and territories, including Brazil, China, Germany,the US, India, Italy, Japan, Taiwan, Thailand, and Turkey besides host Vietnam.

They are displaying chemicals, shoe making andtanning machinery and technologies, leather and other materials, shoecomponents and accessories, finished products and more.

The Council for Leather Exports of India isparticipating with 34 member companies to introduce as well as promote theirproducts.

There are 29 Italian producers of machinery andequipment and chemicals used in tanning and shoe production.

According to the Vietnam Leather and FootwearAssociation (Lefaso), the event is aimed at enhancing export promotion, solicitinginvestment and promoting the image of the country’s leather and footwearindustry.

It also seeks to help local companies acquiremodern technologies, it said.

The expo is being held together with the 19th InternationalFootwear and Leather Products Exhibition, which will showcase trendy andfashionable footwear and leather products and accessories.

Several seminars on the latest technologies andfashion trends in the shoe and leather industries will be held on the sidelinesof the expos.

Leather and footwear are among the country’s keyexport items, fetching 16.2 billion USD last year. They are expected to rise to18 billion USD this year.

Organised by Lefaso and Top Repute Co., Ltd, thethree-day exhibitions at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Centre inDistrict 7 are expected to receive more than 15,000 visitors.-VNA
